Saba (seven guiding principles), one for each day of observance.

UMOJA (Unity) The importance of seeking oneness with the Creator, family, community, nation and race.

KUJICHAGULIA (Self-determination)  Knowing who we are, and through persistence, and perseverence determining our own fate.

 

 


KW102

UJIMA (Collective work and responsibility) Coming together to build and maintain our communities and collectively solve problems.

UJAMAA (Cooperative Economics) Building and maintaining business together, using collective economic strength for the benefit of the community.

 

 


KW103

NIA (Purpose) Preserving the legacy of our ancestors, Nia calls us to discover our mission in life and how that mission will benefit lthe community.

KUUMBA (Creativity) Using our individual gifts of talent, imagination and creativity to build harmony and create beauty in our communities.

 

 


KW104

IMANI (Faith) Believing in ourselves, in our families, in our communities, despite all odds, despite all present obstacles and believing in the best for the future.
